A 3D-printed model of a tesseract projected from four dimensions down into three.
01
A shape from the fourth dimension
A tesseract is to a cube what a cube is to a square. We can’t see in four dimensions, so the closest we can get is its shadow in three, and that’s what I 3D printed: a tesseract projected down into three dimensions, with a light inside that makes the inner cube glow.
02
A cube inside a cube
With the light off, the structure is easier to follow. A printed frame traces every edge of both cubes, and struts connect each inner corner to its partner on the outer cube. It can sit flat on a desk, or balance on one corner on a small stand.
